The Internet abounds with opportunities for us to earn an income from. There are many ways we can earn money online. For example, we can earn money online through
- Affiliate Marketing - Google Adsense - Paid Surveys - Blogging
In this article, we will discuss the first 2 ways mentioned in the above list, that is, AFFILIATE MARKETING and GOOGLE ADSENSE.
AFFILIATE MARKETING
Affiliate marketing is the promoting (marketing/selling) of other people's (it can be an individual's or a company's) products or services, and earning a one-time off commission or a recurring income for life in so doing.
To get started in affiliate marketing, first of all, we need to set up a website. To set up a website, we need to do 2 things:
1. Getting a Domain Name
A domain name is a web address that enables online visitors to locate us in cyberspace. Just like in the physical world, we need a home/office address for visitors to locate us. Firstly, we need to think of a suitable domain name that we like and which is relevant to our business. In my case, I have chosen the following domain name:
http://www.datingromancemarriage.com
Next, we need to check that our chosen domain name has not been taken up by someone else. We can do that by doing a search on an online establishment that lets us buy a domain name from. For instance, the following are 2 such online establishments:
Ideal Hosting
Site 101 Hosting
If our search tells us our chosen domain name has not been taken up by someone else, we can then proceed to buy this domain name, and register it at the same online establishment that we buy our domain name from. On the contrary, if our search tells us our chosen domain name has been taken up by someone else, we will have to think of another domain name and do a search on this new domain name until we arrive at one that is not taken up by someone else. Once we have successfully chosen, bought and registered a domain name, our next step is to choose a web host.
2. Choosing a Web Host
A web host is an online establishment that hosts our website under our domain name. For instance, the following are 4 such online establishments:
GoodAvocado
The HostingPower
Ideal Hosting
Site 101 Hosting
The above 4 web hosts provide web-hosting service at a fee. If you prefer a free web-hosting service, you may obtain it from:
000webhost
After we have done these 2 things (obtained a domain name and chosen our web host), we will have to set up our website, which includes the filling up of our website with content. If we are not familiar with HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language), we can use the WYSIWYG (What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get) program to set up our website. Many web hosts provide such a program.
Next, we are ready to register ourselves as an affiliate marketer with some organizations that have connections with merchants who provide opportunities for affiliates to sell their products or services, with a commission given in return to affiliates who generate a sale or lead. Some of these organizations are:
ClickBank
ClixGalore
AffiliateBOT
After we have registered ourselves with the chosen organization(s), we choose the products or services we wish to promote by copying and pasting the codes from these merchants onto our website so that these products or services will appear on our website. As an illustration, you can see how my chosen products and services appear on my website:

GOOGLE ADSENSE
Google Adsense involves the placing of advertisements by the world's renowned Google Search Engine on our website. These Google advertisements are from merchants that are advertising their products or services. Once a visitor to our website clicks on such an advertisement on our website, the merchant will pay Google a fee, in which we will get a cut of it from Google. If you visit my website, you'll see such advertisements, which can be identified by the phrase that comes with the advertisements, Ads by Google, springing up on many of my web pages:

To run such income-generating advertisements on our website, we firstly, sign up for a Google Adsense account, which can be done at:
https://www.google.com/adsense/login/en_GB
Next, we activate our account, and receive Google advertisements on our website by copying and pasting AdSense ad codes onto our web pages.
After all these are done, the next step will be to draw visitors (traffic) to our website. Just as in a brick-and-mortar store that needs traffic so as to bring in the sales, so does our e-business (website). There are many ways of building traffic, which in themselves, will form a large topic.
